Winner, 2015 New Zealand Exercise Industry Awards
21st NOVEMBER 2015 – Christchurch athlete and personal trainer Katie Lugtigheid has been recognised as the 2015 Personal Trainer of the Year at the New Zealand Exercise Industry Awards.
The 26 year old took out top honours at a black tie ceremony in Auckland over the weekend.
The award is the highest possible accolade in the New Zealand fitness industry.
Lugtigheid owns and operates Pumped Personal Training from a central Christchurch studio. Since launching the business in 2009, Pumped has seen significant growth through employment of additional staff and the launch of pioneered fitness challenges.
Pumped is already a multi award winning fitness organisation but these latest awards recognise and solidify who’s the best in the industry nationwide.
Lugtigheid won over the judges with her professionalism and skills during a live personal training demonstration. Pumped’s successful history, business plan and strong branding clinched the award in the 2nd part of the Auckland judging.
Lugtigheid said the award is a stepping stone that will enable her to help more people achieve their goals.
“Our mission at pumped is to give our clients the confidence and self-belief they need in order to be the best version of themselves, we teach progress not perfection”
“I’m honoured to be recognised as personal trainer of the year and look forward to celebrating the award with all my special and incredibly valued clients, as they’re the ones who make my job so enjoyable and rewarding.”
Pumped Personal Training has grown so much over the past few years the organisation is now widening its offering by engaging with employers to incorporate fitness into the workplace as part of an IRD agreed FBT exempt activity. Pumped’s other director and active business development manager is helping Pumped reach its business goals and cement its place as one of the best training facilities in New Zealand.
Upon announcement of the award, the judging panel pointed out Lugtighied’s consistent professionalism and clear business vision. The panel also commended Katie’s excellent knowledge and coaching skills and her ‘X factor’ ability to make her clients feel very special.
Lugtigheid is also a competitive triathlete – representing New Zealand at the world triathlon series in Edmonton, Canada last year. Professionally she doesn’t just specialise in one-on-one personal training, she caterers to small groups and sports teams and is available for motivational speaking.
